Job Description

About the Role 

We have an opportunity for an agile Senior Engineer – Track to join our Engineering & Maintenance Delivery team. Reporting into the Principal Engineer for Track and Civil, this instrumental role will support and facilitate the provision of assets that enable safe train and station operations. It will support the delivery of asset management strategies and provide specialist engineering knowledge across technical, operations and maintenance with a solutions and remedy focus.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support MTS as a discipline SME with respect to network expansion and new improvement or maintenance projects, including determining requirements, reviewing scope, asset acceptance and supporting project defect close out.
  • Support and monitor track assets Installations and identify the obligations commensurate with these assets including reoccurring inspections, certifications, and registrations; plan and deliver tasks to comply with those obligations.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance in a timely and prompt manner.
  • Keep the Principal Engineer informed in a timely manner with a summary of issues and actions. Separately, promptly, and specifically discuss major safety, operational critical and customer facing issues.
  • For technical engagements support with formulating contract scope, selection of contract cost model types, understanding general contract conditions, administration of contracts, engaging and utilising legal advice and administering resolution of disputes.
  • Support spares holding strategies, development of MTS requirements and the implementation of MTS spare holding.
  • Input to major failure systematic analysis including gathering data, analysis of relevant factors, identify root cause and contributing factors, develop SMART remedial actions and implementation.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You          

You are a confident and competent Engineer holding recognised Civil Engineering qualifications, coupled with strong demonstrated knowledge and experience ideally gained in rail. You will have experience in an operational, preventative and corrective maintenance environment, with the ability to identify root causes and issues, provide technical support, remediation actions and respond to emergency maintenance situations.

You also have good verbal and written communication skills with exposure and experience with asset management systems, including upkeep of central information repositories and planning and completion of maintenance tasks. With excellent stakeholder management, you can oversee and ensure maintenance tasks are delivered to specification.
