The Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) provides unique opportunities to work on diverse and challenging multi-scale geoscientific projects across a wide variety of geological terranes. The team has a strong focus on supporting minerals and energy resources exploration, by undertaking a range of projects to build knowledge of the geology and resource potential of the Northern Territory.
Currently, there are two positions available in the Northern Territory Geological Survey team in Alice Springs, a Senior Geologist (P3) and a Project Geologist (P2). Applicants will be assessed against each professional level and appointments will be made based on qualifications, experience and cultural fit.

As the Senior Geologist (P3) your key responsibilities will be to lead, develop and deliver multidisciplinary geoscience projects, build effective team capabilities and contribute technical expertise to define and refine the stratigraphic and tectonic record of the onshore basins of the Northern Territory. Your leadership will significantly develop the knowledge of a range of basins with often complex Proterozoic and/or Palaeozoic histories, and improve understanding of their resource potential.

As a Project Geologist (P2) your key responsibilities will be to contribute your expertise in geological framework and/or mineral systems studies to improve the understanding of the resource potential of the Northern Territory. Working within a small dedicated team you will undertake projects ranging from regional to local-scale to define and refine the stratigraphic, igneous, structural and metamorphic evolution of targeted terrains. You will contribute to programmes that will transform knowledge of the complex basement geology of the North Australian Craton and its margins, host to a diverse range of mineralisation styles.

In addition to the above, you will be required to maintain currency of knowledge and awareness of modern and emerging geoscientific concepts and technologies, as well as building strong working relationships and collaborative networks with your peers and external stakeholders.

Located in Alice Springs (Mparntwe) you will form part of a passionate and talented Northern Territory Geological Survey team and be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package inclusive of; 11.5% superannuation, 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading and the opportunity to work on fundamental geoscientific studies that will assist with identifying and securing the economic future for the Northern Territory.
