A joint venture (JV) between construction giant Theiss and EV LNG Australia (EVT) has been awarded the $500 million contract to construct LNG storage and condensate tanks for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone LNG project in Western Australia.

 

The JV will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of two full storage tanks with a capacity of 150,000 cubic metres and two condensate storage tanks which will have a capacity of 120,000 cubic metres each.

 

The project is located near Onslow in the state’s northwest and is expected to generate 475 jobs. Theiss has pledged that 75 per cent of work under the contract will take place in Australia.

 

“The joint venture brings a unique combination of capabilities that will deliver a high quality outcome and bring certainty to these large complex projects,” Theiss Managing Director Bruce Munro said.

 

EVT is a wholly owned subsidiary of Enterpose Projects and Vinci Construction Grands Projects of France.

 

 Work will commence immediately with construction to begin on site in 2013 and is scheduled for completion by in 2016.
