ATA's latest postings say they will take on NHVR debacle
Some new members on the Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) executive board say they will be next to tackle problems with national heavy vehicle regulations.
Ron Crouch Transport Managing Director Geoff Crouch and Speedie Contractors Director Tim Knowles have been announced as the new vice chairs for the ATA.
Crouch says his year-long involvement with the ATA has made him keen to help the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) sort out issues with its procedures.
He said key concerns were based on the NHVR’s inability to process heavy vehicle permits quickly and effectively.
The ongoing failures continue to prevent many operators from getting their freight delivered, and has left trucks stranded, costing time and money.
He says the ATA and the industry need to do whatever is necessary to get the regulator right, as it will provide many benefits for the future of the industry.
Mr Crouch said the sometimes disparate parties need to work together and “stop protecting their patch”.
